Should I continue to ignore the scale or no?

Should I continue to ignore the scale or no?

SW: 80 kgs, lowest weight 73 kgs.

Hello everyone, so my lowest weight was 73kgs which I reached after 2 years of consistent weighing myself, calorie counting, and exercise. About 1.5 months ago my weight settled at 74.5 kgs.

Since then, we moved homes and the scale kind of got lost with the furniture during moving. I was happy with our new home which came with a pool we never had before.

So for the next 1.5 months, I decided to continue my journey without weighing myself. I felt amazing and less pressure. I swam at on average 3-4x per week for around 40 minutes to an hour and I am talking doing laps not just floating, and would easily use the treadmill for 30 minutes on average 2-3 x per week and would also lift weights 1-2x a week. My average daily steps were around 7,000-10,000.

My average caloric though intake was around 1,800 which is higher than I aimed to have.

My clothes fit better. People would tell me “I lost a lot of weight.” I felt I looked better, in pictures I seemed thinner, I was more motivated to continue working out and weighing my food/calories.

We found our weighing scale and I decided to weigh myself, expecting the numbers to fit the picture. I was shocked to see it reading 77.8kgs. I had gained nearly 7 pounds during this time.

Now I feel confused and scared. I don’t feel like the scale matches the picture but I worry if I continue this the next time I weigh myself I will be back 80kg +. But on the other hand, what if I am delusional and the scale really is accurate and I am gaining weight but can’t see it?

What should I do?

Organs during fasting

Organs during fasting

Does the body protect important organs like brain, skin and eyes when fasting and just burn normal fat stores?

If so, could an overweight person just drop all fat from their diet and be healthy until they run out of normal, subcutaneous and visceral fats (under 5% bodyfat) ?

Also with protein: could a bodybuilder just stop eating protein entirely and the body would consume the muscle for repair functions instead of protein from important organs – until it runs out of muscle and is severely underweight bmi?

Foods to build muscle/gain weight

Foods to build muscle/gain weight

For context—I’m in the UK and it’s generally very hard for me to gain weight. I’ve been doing really intense workouts as of late and keep losing weight when I don’t have much to lose. I just don’t think I’m eating right for it. Would genuinely love any tips! TIA!

I managed to snag a pound of boneless pork chops @ $1.99 – Add a serving of white rice and a can of green beans, the (very filling) meal ends up being ~$2.75. I live in USA. My friends were not impressed so I’m curious on this sub’s thoughts :)

Diary Of A Weight Loss Physician #10

Diary Of A Weight Loss Physician #10

As a weight loss physician, I have discovered something interesting.

There is stigma that overweight individuals don’t want to take responsibility for their actions.

What I have found is that they don’t respond well to holding THEMSELVES accountable.

Rather, they are very responsive and inspired by SOMEONE ELSE holding them accountable.

They thrive on someone invested in them and feel a sense of obligation to them.

This is often a powerful motivator.

I binged

I binged

I’ve been losing weight for a while now. Recovering from binge eating disorder and it’s on the whole been going well. Eating was a coping mechanism for me, not healthy, and obviously something to work on.

I’m autistic. Change is not my friend. I am moving house… literally my worst trigger for both autism and BED. I’ve kept it together from mid July really when we started buying the house, all through the renovations. We move on Monday. I binged tonight. Clearly the coping mechanisms I had been going over and using weren’t enough to keep me going the whole way through.

Still, not binging the whole way is impressive for me. My hbA1C is down from 86 to 51, in 8 weeks. I’ve lost shitloads of weight. But man I feel like shit. Forgot how much binging physically hurts afterwards. Forgot how tired I feel and how sore indigestion is.

Feeling sad tonight and worried about it affecting my weight loss. Worried about my blood sugar levels. Just… meh. 😦

What is worse for you – eating a sufficient amount of ‘unhealthy’ calories, or not eating enough calories in general?

What is worse for you – eating a sufficient amount of ‘unhealthy’ calories, or not eating enough calories in general?

I oftentimes struggle to eat enough calories in ways that are considered "healthy," though I do try to be mindful. I'm not eating candy and stuff like that all the time, but I see eating, say, a local burger & fries as an easy way to help me get enough calories in for the day. I struggle to put on weight, and typically if I cook a meal of my own at home, it isn't enough calories (despite being a filling and rather healthy meal). I also have ADHD which causes me to struggle with the executive function of cooking sufficient meals on a daily basis, and going out to a restaurant and eating a burger & fries 3 days out of the week helps me get calories, but I know those aren't "healthy" calories.

So, what is worse for you – eating enough calories, but "unhealthy" calories (burgers, pizza, etc.), or not eating enough calories? (Perhaps for the trade-off of eating typically low-calorie meals due to 'healthier' ingredients?)

Additionally, if anyone has some tips on how I can get SUPER LAZY, SUPER QUICK **HEALTHY** calories for the day, I'd love some advice. I'm talking like, 3,000+ calories made easy.

Why is red meat so bad? Isn’t it what we used to eat as hunters?

Why is red meat so bad? Isn’t it what we used to eat as hunters?

I can understand processed meat but normal steak and stuff, like why is it bad? It seems strange to me because to me it feels like that is what our bodies should be used to after being hunters for several millennia.

Perhaps this is the wrong sub but I’m not sure where else to ask.

Fasting, fat and brain

Fasting, fat and brain

Brain is nearly 60% fat and you need to eat fats for brain health. If a morbidly obese person doesn’t eat for 1 month, does the body take fat from the fat stores under the skin and visceral fat and transport it to the brain, eyes and skin?
